Academic Classes

Religion - Mrs. Mulholland

Students will become aware of  God’s presence in our daily lives, our need to care for God’s creation, and our Catholic faith.  Students will learn grade appropriate prayers. 

English - Mrs. Mulholland

Students will listen and respond to age appropriate stories and texts, develop grade level phonics and word analysis skills, and apply grade appropriate grammar conventions.

Math - Mrs. Mulholland

Students will count and identify numbers up to 100, add and subtract within 10, identify shapes and their attributes, and compare groups of objects.

Science - Mrs. Mulholland

Students will explore animals and their habitats, weather and seasons, plants, and forces of motion.

STEM - Mrs. Mulholland

(Incorporated in all subject areas)

Students will investigate topics covered in science and math using the engineering design process and hands-on activities.

Social Studies - Mrs. Mulholland 

Students will learn about people, families, and neighborhoods, while understanding citizenship and our rights and responsibilities.

 

Special Classes

Physical Education - Mr. Illenye

Working on fine motor skills, hopping jumping, landing on one and two feet, skipping, galloping,

Running, direction following, team play, and bouncing and catching a ball.

Art - Mrs. McLaughlin

In Art class our number one goal is to instill a lifelong love of art. The first 4 Elements of Art are taught throughout the year (Line, Shape, Color, Texture) and the next 3 are slowly introduced as the year progresses (Form, Space and Value). We also explore different art mediums/materials, and learn about art history through famous artist projects.

Music - Sr. MaryAnn Caspary

The music program provides students in each grade level with the opportunity to perform, to create and to listen to music.  Musical understanding  is gained by exploring and learning about the elements of music. Students also will be able to explore locomotor movements( walking, running, skipping, jumping), high/low, fast/slow, long/short sounds, experience simple rhythm patterns,  and sing simple songs and match pitches.  All students will have the opportunity to develop their Catholic identity and faith through singing hymns and preparing for the annual Christmas concert.

Spanish - Sr. Lillian Fox

Students in grades K-5 are introduced to the sounds of a Foreign Language and basic vocabulary,  conversation and culture through a series of interactive experiences. The curriculum at each of the levels reinforces prior knowledge and enhances the development of world language skills.
